like the trees hold their leaves til the seasons change
so i'll hold you until you have to go away
don't fall far
i'll be right here
the wind will take you where it will
when you come back around i'll be here still

Everything seems so passe
The sun shined too bright today
So I made smokey clouds to fit my mood
Under stable skies unstable I stood
I'm not as young as I was yesterday
And tomorrow will come to steal today
Convenient shades, hips to sway
Life moves on, come what may
Grievous thought, some die too young
With words on their lips and life in their lungs
The angels will listen without a sound
To the sad stories and sad, sad songs
Seasons will come and seasons will go
To accomodate the rivers that continue to flow
By the waters edge there still we'll breathe
The breath of life that some day will cease
All good things must come to an end
But life only ends to begin again
So dance with me, dance while we're young
Move your feet we don't have long
Enlighten me with your words and touch
Give me somewhere to belong
The sun shined too bright today
So I made smokey clouds to fit my mood
Under stable skies unstable I stood
I'm not as young as I was yesterday
And tomorrow will come to steal today
Convenient shades, hips to sway
Life moves on, come what may

I've lost count of all the ways
All the times you've let me down
You set me on a throne
Clothed me in purple
And took the jewels from my crown
My tiny motorcar tries in vain
And it can't fly me away
So I stay, I stay
You gave her my wings
So I'm stuck here on the ground
You sate your thirst with her
Candy tongue
I can't move, can't move
While you are moving on
How was the right made so very wrong
All the times you've let me down
You set me on a throne
Clothed me in purple
And took the jewels from my crown
My tiny motorcar tries in vain
And it can't fly me away
So I stay, I stay
You gave her my wings
So I'm stuck here on the ground
You sate your thirst with her
Candy tongue
I can't move, can't move
While you are moving on
How was the right made so very wrong

beginnings end
with crayola crayons of every color
i drew pretty pictures to give my mother
of horses blue and pastures so green
speckled with smiling flowers
time mocks us, laughing as it passes by
now i'm older and your heart sighs
you force your way up
i'll push my way down
we'll meet in the middle on some common ground
from where i stand it all seems so clear
all i need is to have you near
he said he wanted a new life, a new world
you and me both, i said, or perhaps some of the old
but what's past is past for a reason
it was a different time, a different season
time folds over, burying the past
under layers of beginnings that just didn't last
i could feel you like you lay next to me
see you like you filled my eyes
your taste lingered on my lips long after you left
and now the days go faster than they come
my time here is almost done
i drew pretty pictures to give my mother

so good
Tonight I feel more than I should
If it didn't hurt so bad, it wouldn't have been so good
Days turned to weeks times 52
Our eyes sparkled for others but still I knew
Your heart completed the half of mine
You took with you when we said goodbye
Drunken phone calls professed a love
That was alive for me all because
There in another you began to see
Reminders of us, reminders of me
Sobering thought true love doesn't die
Channel to another, I hope I might
It was over before it had a chance to begin
I'll pretend I didn't know what could have been
When I see you again I'll try to smile
But my heart just wants to be broken a while
I don't believe time heals anything
Just ripens realizations and gives more time to bleed
If it didn't hurt so bad, it wouldn't have been so good
Days turned to weeks times 52
Our eyes sparkled for others but still I knew
Your heart completed the half of mine
You took with you when we said goodbye
Drunken phone calls professed a love
